the Somme football district postpones all weekend matches

No departmental football matches this weekend in the Somme. It’s here sanction decided by the district after the violent attack on a referee on Saturday during the U17 match between RC Salouël-Saleux and Albert (0-1).

Saturday in Salouël, after the final whistle of the under-17 match won by Albert. The 18-year-old referee was insulted and then punched by two players from the losing team. The family of one of them even took part in the aggression.

The football district as well as the Salouël club have decided to file a complaint. Both players were immediately sent off. But the district wants to drive the point home by postponing all the meetings scheduled for this weekend in all age categories for “cause a collective awareness” among its 20,000 licensees.
