This Wednesday, November 3, 2021, Jean-Luc Lahaye was arrested and placed in police custody by the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons. The 68-year-old singer is accused of rape of minors, sexual assault and corruption of minors. A complaint was filed against Jean-Luc Lahaye by two young women. They claim that the events took place between 2013 and 2014. At the time, the complainants were between 16 and 17 years old.
According to the complaint, the interpreter of “Woman I love” would have had sexual relations with the two minors who believe to have been, at the time, under his influence. He would also have asked the teenagers, by interposed cameras, to undress and “take sexual poses”. A complaint had already been filed in 2015 against the singer by the two young women. But they had finally decided to retract. The recently filed complaint prompted the opening of a preliminary investigation in early 2021.
New twist in the case. According to “Le Point”, Jean-Luc Lahaye was indicted and remanded in custody on suspicion of rape and sexual assault on minors over 15 years old, this Friday. He allegedly admitted to having had sex with young women but strongly disputes the accusations of rape, sexual assault and bribery of minors. The artist assures that the plaintiffs were consenting at the time of the facts.
Jean-Luc Lahaye was remanded in custody at the Health prison in Paris in order to “prevent pressure on witnesses or victims”, “to prevent fraudulent consultation between the aforementioned and his accomplices” and to guarantee keeping the suspect at the disposal of justice, according to the examining magistrate, as reported by “Le Point”.
