The Coyotes players showed a lot of frustration during this meeting, which ended in a 5-0 loss. Jay Beagle was sent off by the referees after going overboard in a fight against Troy Terry.

Ritchie also sparked fire late in the first period when he got into a scuffle with Dominik Simon, but it was a move that officials missed and will be watched by security.

After slapping Shattenkirk against the boards, the Coyotes forward delivered two blows with the blade of his stick, first in the back, then in the face of the defender. Ritchie was suspended once for two games for obstructing Michal Rozsival of the Chicago Blackhawks late in the 2016-17 season. He then wore the Ducks uniform.

The Ontarian has 19 points in 50 games this season, having started this season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
