Prince’s mythical concert in Syracuse is released on disc





(Paris) New nugget unearthed: Prince’s concert, at its peak in Syracuse (State of New York) during the “Purple Rain” tour in 1985, will be released on June 3 for the first time on CD, vinyl and Blu-ray, indicate Wednesday label and legatees.

Each artist has his own live reference: James Brown has his Apollo Theater, Jimi Hendrix his Monterey Pop. For Prince (who died in 2016), it’s the show in Syracuse, at New York’s Carrier Dome, on March 30, 1985.

“Listening to the Syracuse concert again, I tell myself that we sound like a rocket taking off”, comments BrownMark, bassist of The Revolution, a group accompanying Prince at the time. “It was powerful. I have attended a lot of concerts but I have never seen anything like it, ”he adds, quoted in the press release.

At the time, the concert was broadcast live by satellite and low-quality recordings have been circulating ever since. This time, that performance has been remixed from the original tapes taken from “The Vault,” Prince’s vault, tucked away in his Paisley Park estate-creation-place-studio.

It is also the first time that the image has been restored to Blu-ray format, specify Legacy Recordings, Sony’s label, and the “Prince Estate”, an entity that manages his artistic heritage.

It is therefore also the first time that the concert entitled “Prince and The Revolution: Live” has been transposed on vinyl and CD.
