The occasion to celebrate the anniversaries of the ensembles created by Eliane Lavail in 1971 (Ensemble Vocal d’Aquitaine), 1981 (Madrigal de Bordeaux), 1991 (Ensemble Orchestral d’Aquitaine) and 1995 (Chœur Symphonique Polifonia).

During this “Anthology” concert, a life dedicated to music will be told in a vocal quartet, in a chamber choir, in an oratorio choir or in a symphonic choir, with a cappella pieces, small baroque ensembles or a large symphony orchestra. .
From Janequin to Messiaen, passing through the unmissable Bach, Mendelssohn and Berlioz, the public will be part of an exceptional musical journey… During this concert, Éliane Lavail will hand over her baton to her faithful assistant Damien Sardet who will become artistic director of the association Polifonia Eliane Lavail.

Eliane Lavail

Professor of choral direction and choral singing at the Conservatoire National de Région de Bordeaux until November 2008, Éliane Lavail won the first competition for choir conductors organized by the Ministry of Culture.

She completed her training as a conductor in France and abroad with Jean-François Paillard, Roberto Benzi and Julius Kalmar (Academy of Vienna in Austria). Responsible for preparing important choral and lyrical works (with Claudio Abbado, Michel Corboz, Roberto Benzi, Emmanuel Krivine, Alain Lombard, etc.), Éliane Lavail is a choirmaster with recognized competence who has directed the Ensemble since their creation. Vocal d’Aquitaine (1971) and Madrigal de Bordeaux (1981).

She is one of the few female conductors in France, founder of L’Ensemble Orchestral d’Aquitaine, an original formation at the service of choirs in the region since 1991. As such, she has conducted in France and abroad. abroad most of the great works for choir and orchestra.

She has also created contemporary works such as Marcel Landowski’s Pont de l’Espérance or Michèle Reverdy’s Mass for Peace, and prepared the women’s choir to create Jacques Charpentier’s Mirrors of Marie-Madeleine at the 1992 Choralies in Vaison. the Roman. She is preparing the choir for the last cantata by Darius Milhaud Ani Maamin, given with the 2e2m orchestra under the direction of Paul Méfano salle Pleyel (concert recorded by Radio-France and published on cd which won the Grand Prix de l’académie Charles Cros ).

At the Dax Festival, she created the Requiem by Philippe Capdenat, a work written for the Madrigal de Bordeaux, recorded by Radio-France, broadcast on the national airwaves.

Among his many achievements, let us mention the CD edition of the first complete religious vocal works a cappella or with organ by Francis Poulenc, a disc which received a Choc du Monde de la Musique in September 1996.

Éliane Lavail is an internationally recognized conductor, asked to be a member of the juries of the competitions of Gorizia, Tours and Montreux, to direct a French music workshop in Cuba and to participate with the Madrigal de Bordeaux in international festivals (Saratov 1990, Cuba 1992, Legnano 1993, Fano 1995, Sydney 1996, Manila 1998).

In December 2012, she celebrated her 50-year career by conducting 1,000 singers and musicians in Berlioz’s Requiem. The recognition of institutions towards his musical action was expressed by his appointments to the rank of Knight in the Order of Academic Palms and in the National Order of Merit and, in January 2013, Eliane Lavail was named Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters.

Retired from her teaching activities at the Bordeaux Conservatory since November 2008, Eliane Lavail has embarked at the same time on another artistic adventure with the creation of jewellery: the “Maguy Bilato” line.
