Some French companies want to help Ukrainian refugees integrate into the country by offering them jobs. Report.
Nadia and Olena arrived from Ukraine a week ago. The textile company in northern France that employed them in kyiv (Ukraine), Lener Cordier, offered to host them. She paid for the trip, provided them with accommodation, and offered them a job, the one they had in their country. “We were in a very difficult situation. I don’t even have words to describe it. So coming here is incredible support”says Olena Borysova.
If the language barrier is sometimes a problem, the smartphone translator helps to make the exchanges more fluid. Of the twenty employees working in kyiv, five accepted the company’s offer to come to France. “We felt that we had a role to play in it”, explains Marine Lener, communications manager for Lener Cordier. Other French companies, without any presence in Ukraine, also wish to offer work to Ukrainians. This is the case of Newrest, in Haute-Garonne, which offers 120 permanent contracts, with salaries close to the minimum wage.
