The economic consequences of this war will be significant, including for the French. Oil prices have already resumed their escalation while the agricultural sector finds itself in uncertainty.

The economy is hit by the war at the gates of Europe. The upcoming price spike primarily concerns oil. In a few days, the price of a barrel on the markets soared: it cost $112 on the evening of March 3, or +47% in three months. An outbreak that is felt for motorists. On a full tank, I would say that’s a good 5, 10 euros more”notes one of them. Another motorist decided to fill up before the price went up even more.

Some fuel distributors confirm that their purchase price has already increased by 10 cents this week. On the business side, agriculture is the most affected sector due to the halt in imports of raw materials. A pig farmer says he has trouble feeding these animals. Already there, we are in total red, I do not know where we are going”he laments. The government is therefore considering a resilience plan to help the impacted sectors.
