(Tbilisi) Georgia officially submitted its candidacy to join the European Union on Thursday, announced the Prime Minister of this Caucasian country, after Ukraine asked for its integration into the EU in the face of the Russian invasion.

“We are applying for EU membership,” Irakli Garibachvili said in a statement after signing the letter to this effect. “Georgia is a European state and continues to make a valuable contribution to its protection and development,” he added.
