Michel Labèguerie is a classic singer in the history of Basque song. Born in 1921 in Ustaritz, music and song will be an integral part of his life. At the beginning in a simple way then from the 60s in a revolutionary way, Michel Labèguerie and his guitar are essential. He became the “dad” of the “Euskal kantagintza berria” movement, a musical movement that lasted from 1960 to 1980 and consisted of taking up traditional Basque songs that people had forgotten to make them popular again. Moreover some of these songs will later be diverted to become abertzale songs.
