The agency warned that the coming tax season was going to be “special” due to the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
But the CRA has not extended the deadline for filing tax returns, and it remains April 30 for most Canadians.
Canadians must file their return to receive the benefits and credits to which they are entitled, the agency said.
Workers who teleworked in 2021 could be eligible for a deduction of up to $500 for their work-at-home expenses, using the temporary fixed-rate method.
National Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier said she was proud of how the CRA responded to challenges during the pandemic, noting that agency employees administered COVID-19 benefits with “professionalism” and “energy”.
“I can assure you that this is a strong team that is there to help Canadians file their tax returns so that they receive the benefits and credits to which they are entitled,” she said in a statement. communicated.
