If some, the most established, have decided to stay despite the threat, they would be around 60% of French people residing in Ukraine to have already left the country.
As the situation in Ukraine continues to become tense, France recommends that its nationals leave the country. “For the French who live in Kiev there are two types of reactions. Those who have made their lives here do not want to leave and are not impressed by the increasingly pressing threats”explains Dorothée Olliéric, special correspondent in Kiev.
“There are other French people I was able to speak to earlier, who say that the pressure has been mounting for several days. They have seen embassies close, European nationals to leave and they also wanted to leave. They will surely bring forward their departure.”, she says. About 1000 French people are registered by the embassy in Ukraine and 60% of those living in Ukraine have probably left the country.
