Six large billboards will appear on the capital’s highway accesses on Monday. The message – “50,000 more cars here” – is addressed to Quebec motorists who, according to the solidarity groups, will suffer from the arrival of thousands of motorists from the South Shore.

“François Legault’s obsession will cost you 10 billion. It is 10 billion that Quebec families cannot afford to waste on a project like that. These are 10 billion for a climate ball, a project of the past, which will tarnish the ecological reputation of Quebec ”, launched Monday morning the spokesperson for Quebec solidaire, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

The party drew $ 6,000 from its coffers to pay for this campaign against the Quebec-Lévis tunnel. It comes at a pivotal moment, when the government of François Legault has “retreated for the first time”.

Indeed, last week, Quebec announced its intention to remove from its plans the automobile exit initially planned in the Saint-Roch district, after citizen mobilizations.

Then, last Friday, the expert Marie-Hélène Vandersmissen decided to slam the porter of the monitoring committee of the Sustainable Mobility Policy. The director of the Department of Geography at Laval University was shocked by comments from the Minister of Transport, François Bonnardel, in favor of the third link.

“I don’t want to be a part of this comedy anymore,” wrote Mme Vandersmissen to justify his departure, according to The sun.

“I think the third link is on its way to becoming a stone in François Legault’s shoe. Not only in Quebec, but in the next national election of 2022, ”believes Mr. Nadeau-Dubois.

“This project is the symbol of what François Legault proposes to Quebecers: to spend fortunes on small obsessions that he maintains, but which are completely disconnected from people’s daily lives. ”
