Isolation instructions | A new self-assessment tool available online

(Quebec) The Quebec Ministry of Health announced on Friday that a new self-assessment tool so that each Quebecer knows the isolation instructions according to their situation is available online.

Quebecers can find it on the page www.quebec.ca/isolation. It provides a recommendation on the instructions to follow, depending on whether the person has symptoms compatible with COVID-19 or has been in contact with a case that has been declared positive.

The ministry adds that it is also possible to do this self-assessment for a child or another person.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, believes that thanks to this platform, Quebecers will be able to better orient themselves towards the instructions to follow in the event of the appearance of symptoms or contact with a positive person. The Minister repeats that the population must now learn to live with the virus, but that respecting the instructions is an essential element in limiting the risks of spread.

On the other hand, Public Health is issuing new isolation instructions for people who have had COVID-19 since December 20.

Thus, a person who has obtained a positive result after a molecular test (NAAT) or a rapid test, or who has developed symptoms after being in contact with a positive person at home, does not have to isolate himself or to perform screening tests if they develop symptoms again and if they are still in contact with a case of COVID-19 at home.

These instructions apply for a period of three months after infection since the risk of reinfection with COVID-19 is reduced within this period.

The authorities point out, however, that the person will have to isolate themselves if they have a fever. She can resume her activities if she has had no fever for at least 24 hours.
