Ophélie Meunier under protection: first words since the threats

These sweet words must have warmed the heart of Ophélie Meunier, threatened since the broadcast on M6 of a Restricted zone about the dangers of radical Islam. Closely watched by the SDLP (protection service specifically responsible for protecting personalities), Mathieu Vegne’s wife had received the support of many people, including that of a large part of the political world, starting with the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin: “I gave instructions that each time a journalist is the object of serious threats, he benefits from police protection. We will find the perpetrators of these threats“.

So far, no one has been arrested in the case. In contrast, “an investigation was opened for death threats“said the Nanterre prosecutor’s office to AFP. This decision follows the complaint filed by Ophélie Meunier after the death threats by which she was targeted. The investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the repression of delinquency against the person at the end of January. The perpetrators, if found, risk up to 3 years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.
