“I am here to defend anyone who has been afraid for the past week to leave their homes to go to work, to buy groceries or even just to wear a mask,” explained Rob Nellis, a resident of Ottawa.
The “counter-demonstrators” faced off against the demonstrators, who stood across the street for several hours. On one side, you could hear chanting “go home”, while the others shouted “Freedom”.
Several demonstrators came to challenge the counter-protesters, in particular by telling them that they “were not intelligent enough to understand the extent of the movement” and that the city of Ottawa “now belonged to them”.
