Six bakery thieves arrested, an investigation opened in Bordeaux

Five men and a woman were presented to the Bordeaux investigating judge on Tuesday February 1. They were indicted for thefts in an organized gang and criminal association. The respondents are suspected of having committed, since April 2021, thefts from around 30 bakeries French, at least 35, notably in Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montauban, Nîmes, Banyuls, Pamiers, Marseille and Annecy.

A well-established modus operandi

For each flight, their modus operandi is the same. They first carry out a meticulous scouting of the premises before breaking into the bakery at night, crawl on the ground to avoid being seen and leave with the contents of the automatic cash register.

Facts reported by the Bordeaux and Toulouse public prosecutor’s offices last November, leading to the opening of an investigation entrusted to the Central Office for the Fight against Itinerant Delinquency, Toulouse detachment, with the support of the Toulouse research brigade -Saint-Michel, the research brigade of Toulouse-Mirail and the research section of the gendarmerie of Bordeaux.

The suspects first spotted in Haute-Savoie were finally arrested in Besançon. They were traveling in two vehicles. Currently in pre-trial detention, the investigations are continuing under the aegis of the specialized interregional jurisdiction (JIRS) of Bordeaux.
