Damien Comoli, the president of the TFC, was theexceptional guest of 100% TFC this Tuesday evening on France Bleu Occitanie. The opportunity to come back with him on the club’s hot issues. The day after the closing of the winter transfer window, President Comolli revealed behind the scenes. “The first recruitment was to keep the main players” details the president.
Objective #1: retain players
“We announced a calm transfer window, we kept our promises” smiles the president of the TFC. The arrival of the only purple rookie this winter, forward Junior Flemmings, had been planned since last September. “He’s a powerful player, who goes fast. We had rather scheduled his arrival next season, but we had the opportunity [de l’acheter] now so we did it” details Damien Comolli.
“The number one objective of this transfer window, […] it was from keep the players we rely on. That was absolutely an obsession” explains Damien Comolli who confided his concern during this period. “I was very afraid that we would be attacked […]. We have players who are young, with very, very high potential […]. Got all the big fish in Europe watching us. I give you an example. We played against Guingamp. There were 26 European clubs who were in the stands. And not little ones! Bayern Munich, Mönchengladbach, Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, Barça…” The club has therefore rejected several offers for its players, even if it means refusing large sums of money according to Damien Comolli.
On the Issiaga Sylla file, the TFC was ready in the event of the departure of the Guinean left side. The club had three choices and negotiations were underway. “[Issiaga] didn’t leave and from the moment he didn’t leave, we weren’t going to take an additional player because that’s a lot of players for the same position”, summarizes Damien Comolli. The TFC also studied the purchase of a midfielder without it succeeding because of the price.
Facing Dijon, the club hopes for the second influx of the season
The president of the TFC also returned to the lifting of the gauges in the stadiums from February 2. Damien Comolli waits between “11,000 and 15,000 spectators” Saturday at the Stadium for the reception of Dijon (3 p.m.). It would then be the second attendance of the season. “That’s our goal and I urge the fans to come because our team deserves it and the fans deserve a first team in their league.”
The president expects last-minute purchases because the ticket office has just opened. He remains optimistic “because before the gauges, we gained 2,500 new spectators per game.” And even if the TFC seems to be slowing down at the moment, the president is not worried. “be the first [de la Ligue 2] after 22 days, that means something. We have the best attack, the best scorer, the best decisive passer and the best player who provides the most passes. […] The picture is pink, in the pink city!”
The Christophe Revault bend inaugurated on April 2
France Bleu Occitanie announced it to you last May. The West corner of the Stadium will be renamed the Christophe Revault corner, in tribute to the goalkeeper who died last summer at the age of 49. With more than 200 games played at TFC and HAC, the ceremony should have taken place on the sidelines of the reception of Le Havre on February 21.
Faced with the uncertainty surrounding the health situation, and in agreement with the family of the former goalkeeper, the official ceremony was finally postponed to April 2 during the reception of Paris FC.
