COVID-19: Quebec reports 48 deaths

The decline in hospitalizations continues in Quebec, but the deaths remain numerous: the Ministry of Health reports 48 on Friday.

A total of 3091 hospitalizations are reported, a decrease of 62 compared to the previous day. Two hundred and twenty-eight people are in intensive care, a drop of seven.

The Ministry of Health reports 3,600 new cases, for a total of 853,120 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

In all, 33,144 rapid tests have been registered so far on the self-declaration platform set up by the government, including 25,082 positive. A total of 1,771 cases were reported for Thursday, including 1,052 positives.

The death toll now stands at 13,113 for the province.

A total of 32,055 analyzes were performed on Thursday, and Quebec has a positivity rate of 11.7%.

Regarding vaccination, 75,704 doses have been administered in the province in the last 24 hours and 2,833 people received a first dose of vaccine on Thursday.

According to the National Institute of Public Health, 85.6% of the population of Quebec has received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19. Among those aged 12 and over, 92.4% have received at least one dose and 90.1% are adequately vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 43% of Quebecers aged 5 and over have received a third dose of the vaccine.
