Being deliberately infected with Covid-19, is it a dangerous game? Journalist Marina Carrère d’Encausse, takes stock of the situation live on 19/20.
For some, intentionally getting infected is a good way to get rid of the virus. “The problem is that it is very risky as a calculation. We know that the immunity conferred by the vaccine decreases over time, that’s why we made recalls. We know very little about immunity conferred by the infection itself. What we see is that people regularly re-infect themselves with the different variants, so this immunity is not long-lasting and this calculation is certainly bad”, says journalist Marina Carrère d’Encausse live from the set of 19/20.
The Omicron variant is less dangerous. “There are fewer hospitalizations but fewer does not mean zero. There are fatal cases of Omicron in people who have no risk factors (…) then there is the long covid and taste and smell disorders which can be very important”, recalls the journalist.
