Before March 2020, telework was non-existent at Intelcia. Now half of its 370 employees in Charleville-Mézières work from home. And the concept will be perpetuated.
The company manages telephone platforms for the National Agency for Secure Documents and handles the follow-up of vehicle registration and driving license applications. Intelcia, already established in the Tercyaris building, near the Charleville-Mézières station, also set up in December in the former premises of the Chamber of Agriculture, rue du Petit-Bois.
Premises adapted to teleworking
On this second Carolomacerian site, Intelcia works as a service provider for mutual insurers. The spaces have been designed by integrating the notion of telework. “We put more meeting rooms, meeting rooms for people who would only come periodically“, details Yves Cornette, the director of Intelcia France.
Before the coronavirus, the 100 workstations made it possible to employ 100 employees. But as new hires will work part of their time from home, this new telephone platform will make it possible to recruit up to 200 call center agents.
During the last recruitment carried out in Charleville-Mézières, this new method of organizing working time interested a new candidate profile that Intelcia did not see applying before the Covid. “We recruited people who come from further away, from 30, 40 or 50 km for whom traveling to Charleville-Mézières two to three times a week is not a problem, but who could not do it daily“, notes Yves Cornette
Savings on real estate
Twice as many employees for as much surface area reduces real estate needs of the company. What does not panic the president of Ardenne Métropole, Boris Ravignon, who wishes to make telephone platforms a lever of economic development for the territory and has already started new projects for the development of premises for tertiary activities in the district of station.
“Sanitary conditions have rather powerfully supported the development of telephone platforms“, underlines Boris Ravignon. Charleville-Mézières will soon welcome a new telephone platform of the Directorate General of Public Finances.
Teleworking makes it possible to reduce real estate costs, recognizes the director of Intelcia in France. But this generates additional expenses “to equip employees, develop communication and assistance tools and strengthen teams to support remote employees“, specifies Yves Cornette. The training courses have also been adapted so that they can now be delivered by video.
