The hour of recovery has come for the rugby players of Club Athlétique Périgueux. After a match against Beauvais canceled last week due to the opponent’s Covid case, the CAP is putting on their crampons again after several weeks without a match for this 14th day of Federal 1 Rugby.
And for its comeback, Périgueux intends to defend its leading position against a shock opponent: Floirac (Gironde), 3rd in the standings. Since the start of the season, Floirac has only conceded 15 tries. Yet CAP coach Richard Hill believes in it. “They are a team that is very strong, very strong up front in the scrum, very strong on the ball with good footwork and above all very good defence. One positive thing for us is that when we played against Floirac in the first leg, we scored five tries so we scored the most tries.”, he analyzes.
On the other hand, Périgueux has a weak point: the team has not played a match since the beginning of December, unlike Floirac. And even if the training sessions were very intense, they are not matches, recognizes Richard Hill. The coach still has confidence, he hopes to start 2022 with a great victory. “Will we have the precision we need? We’ll see. But we did everything we could do, with the intensity of the training. I feel that the group is very motivated for this match”, he says.
The Périgueux-Floirac match is scheduled for this Sunday at the Francis Rongiéras stadium. Kick off is at 3:00 p.m.
