The Laval Rocket has its new captain. This is Lucas Condotta.
The 26-year-old striker thus becomes the fifth captain in the club’s history. He succeeds Gabriel Bourque, who recently announced his retirement from professional hockey. Xavier Ouellet, Byron Froese and Alex Belzile also wore the “C”.
Brandon Gignac and Tyler Wotherspoon will be his assistants. Gignac will be in his fourth season in Laval, while Wotherspoon is a 31-year-old AHL veteran hired as a free agent this summer.
Condotta will begin his third season with the Rocket on Friday; he joined the organization in 2021-22, when he was a free agent. In 144 games in the American League, he collected 24 goals and 27 assists.
The Ontarian also played four games with the Canadian, scoring one goal.
