An exhibition was already an event. Tour of a rich and full life. But still? Now, out of nowhere, Diane Dufresne adds an album to the walk. No question of staying in the past, we understand. What does she observe? A world “under siege”. Which opens on Aurore Montreala gloomy morning in a city with the blues. And which is experienced hour by hour in Humanoid boost / State of siege : Montreal daily, with radio, bridges, orange cones. The music, all by Michel Cusson, follows the movement – funk here, jazzy there, closer to film soundtracks than song melodies. Songs? There is one that stands out, about a poignant “Monsieur Lamoureux”, an old gentleman who runs away when “sweet Yvonne has just died”. But most often, it is writing that watches itself write, a description-spectacle of a Gladiatorlist of social networks in Intersection/All in the same direction. Easy enumeration of cities in Night flight. The times are heavy, Diane Dufresne weighs it. Was it really necessary?
