Arrest of seven teenagers linked to a criminal group in Saint-Léonard

Seven teenagers aged 14 to 17, linked to a criminal group in Saint-Léonard, were arrested last week, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) announced on Wednesday.

The suspects are said to have illegally occupied a vacant commercial premises on rue Jean-Talon Est and used it as a hiding place. They allegedly broke in there in mid-June, then used the place as a safe place to take refuge after committing various crimes, police added.

“Despite their young age,” the suspects were allegedly involved in numerous violent crimes, including robberies, firearms discharges, arson and extortion.

The suspects will later appear before the Youth Chamber to answer charges of mischief and break and enter.

Further details will follow.
