Podcast Echoes of the Mississippi | At the heart of Freedom Summer

From June to August 1964, a major gathering of civil rights activists shook Mississippi and its segregated society. During this “summer of freedom”, a thousand volunteers invaded the Southern state in support of its black community, which is always exposed to supremacist violence if it exercises its right to vote. With veterans of the movement, we tell the story of this major surge in democracy and its brutal repression.
