Reese Witherspoon teams up with author Harlan Coben for her debut novel

(New York) Grand Central Publishing announced Wednesday that actress Reese Witherspoon, star of Legally Blonde and of Big Little Lies, teams up with author and Netflix creator-producer Harlan Coben for a thriller novel, his first work of adult fiction. The book, currently untitled, is scheduled for release next fall and is developed from an idea Witherspoon had.

“To say that I am an admirer of Harlan’s work is an understatement,” Witherspoon said in a statement released by Grand Central, a subsidiary of Hachette Book Group. “The fact that he found my idea for this thrill book intriguing enough to want to partner with me as a co-author is a dream come true. Closing with Harlan on how to thrill audiences with mysterious characters and complex narrative twists has already been more fun than I can describe. I can’t wait for everyone to read what we came up with. »

Coben has sold tens of millions of books worldwide. His notable works include the Myron Bolitar series and standalone novels such as “Without a Word” and “Double Trap,” which he helped produce for Netflix. In a statement Wednesday, he praised Witherspoon for her “unparalleled” storytelling instincts.

“Once we started discussing his idea, there was no going back,” he said. Collaborating with Reese has been pure joy and so creatively rewarding. I couldn’t be more excited to release this novel into the world. »

Witherspoon is not the first film actress to collaborate with a prominent fiction author. Oscar winner Viola Davis is working with James Patterson on a novel about a black judge in the rural South. Witherspoon is part of another notable duo: She and her media company, Hello Sunshine, are set to produce a film adaptation of Patterson and Dolly Parton’s novel Run, Rose, Run.
