The Council of State rejected on Wednesday, September 25, the appeals filed in summary proceedings by the channels C8 and NRJ12, not chosen by Arcom (the audiovisual regulator) this summer during the procedure for reassigning DTT frequencies, ruling that the emergency condition is not met. “not filled”The radical left-wing web TV channel Le Média also saw its appeal rejected by the highest administrative court, which specified that these appeals would be examined in depth by the end of November.
On July 24, Arcom had unveiled the list of successful candidates for the reallocation of 15 DTT frequencies in 2025, rejecting those of C8 and NRJ12 in favor of two newcomers, OFTV (Ouest France group) and RéelsTV (CMI Media, owned by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky). The C8 channel had quickly opposed this decision, considering that its situation “is particular in view of the economic, social and competitive issues generated by this decision for a television channel that has existed (…) for almost 20 years”The channels still in the running will only obtain their authorization to broadcast after signing new agreements with the regulator, by the end of the year.
