A terrible work accident occurred this Tuesday on the 10th floor of the Triangle tower construction site. The fall of a steel beam caused the death of a worker crushed under its weight. The man was evacuated in a brain dead state to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital, he died yesterday evening.
The accident took place on Tuesday morning, on the construction site of the Triangle tower located near the Porte de Versailles in the 15the arrondissement. An investigation for involuntary manslaughter has been entrusted to the police station of the 15th arrondissement and to the labor inspectorate, confirms the Paris prosecutor’s office. The 45-year-old victim died from his injuries.
Reached by telephone, the LR mayor of the district, Philippe Goujon, explained that he had gone to the scene early Tuesday afternoon. “From what the site managers explained to me”relates the elected official, “The man was working on a pillar demolding operation, he was cutting out metal reinforcements that hold the concrete pillars”.
“From what I know,” continues the mayor, “The worker was working on the top floor, that is to say the 10th, and for some unknown reason, one of the metal frames came loose.”he explains.
“I went to the construction site to share my solidarity and compassion with all these workers in shock. I am opposed to the construction of this tower but that does not prevent me from sharing the emotion of these workers,” concludes Philippe Goujon.
On Tuesday, the construction site was immediately shut down. According to a police source, the man was evacuated Tuesday in a brain-dead state to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital. He died in the evening, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
After much opposition to the Triangle Tower construction project, work finally began in 2021. In the long term,The building is to reach a height of 180 metres and have 44 floors, which would make it the third tallest building in the capital after the Eiffel Tower (330 m) and the Montparnasse Tower (209 m).)equal in height to the Duo towers in the 13th arrondissement.
