In Échirolles, in Isère, the dealers are said to have taken up residence in a residential building. According to the mayor, they damaged the electrical installations, causing “a permanent danger of death”. The town hall therefore decided to evacuate the building to carry out work there.

The municipal police raided a building in Échirolles (Isère) on the morning of Tuesday, September 24. It was not to chase away the drug dealers, but to warn residents that they had three days to leave their homes. The building contains electrical installations without any protection. The dealers are said to have taken up residence in this building and are squatting in the vacant apartments. The Échirolles town hall has therefore decided to evacuate the 80 homes.

“There is a permanent danger of death in this building, linked to the electrical installations which were damaged by the deal”explains Amandine Demore, mayor (PCF) of Échirolles. In the city, several shootings broke out last summer. However, the police patrol regularly, but they struggle to stem the traffic. The building will be closed for at least three weeks. During the work, all the occupants will be rehoused.
