Israel announces bombing of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, after nearly 115 rocket attacks on its territory

After the deadly strike on the commanders of a Hezbollah unit on Friday, the Israeli army announced that it was carrying out strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Sunday morning, September 22. The Lebanese Shiite Islamist movement fired approximately 115 projectiles in the last few hours “towards civilian areas in northern Israel”according to the Israeli army statement. Israel orders Al Jazeera’s office in the occupied West Bank to be closed for 45 days. The Qatari television channel announced that Israeli forces raided its offices in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank on Sunday and issued a 45-day closure order that accuses the channel of“incite and support terrorism”according to the bureau chief’s comments reported by the channel. The Israeli army did not immediately comment.

The United States calls on its citizens to evacuate Lebanon. “Due to the unpredictable nature of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel and the recent explosions across Lebanon, including in Beirut, the U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to leave Lebanon while commercial options remain available.”the U.S. State Department announced.
