Second death in less than 24 hours in New Caledonia. A person was shot dead during a police operation in Saint-Louis, a Kanak stronghold located in the suburbs of Noumea, the authorities announced on Thursday, September 19. The police were conducting an operation to arrest around ten individuals suspected of having participated in the violence and abuses of the last four months, reports Nouvelle-Calédonie La 1ère. A first man was killed during an operation, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. Thirteen people died since the start of the unrest in the archipelago, the authorities said.
