A 41-year-old man was taken to hospital after being struck in the upper body by a sharp object during an altercation. His condition is currently stable.
The assault occurred around 4:50 p.m. A call was made to 911 for a man who had allegedly been attacked with a sharp object in Cabot Square, located on Sainte-Catherine Street, at the exit of the Atwater station, in the west of the Ville-Marie borough.
Upon arrival, police located a 41-year-old man who had been injured in the upper body by a sharp object. He was transported to a hospital and was conscious when transported.
“According to the latest information, the man is in stable condition at the hospital,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, media relations officer for the SPVM.
According to several witnesses, it appears that the victim had an altercation with another man in Cabot Square, during which the victim was struck at least once.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly left the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
A perimeter was set up and an investigator went to the scene to analyze the scene with forensic technicians, in an attempt to gather information about the event. No arrests have been made so far, but the investigation is ongoing.
