A silent march is to start on Sunday, September 25 at midday in Grenoble in tribute to Lilian Dejean, a city employee shot dead a week ago by a man still on the run.

It’s still a blank march, but there must be something behind it.“, exhorts this Sunday on franceinfo Stéphane Echinard, childhood friend of Lilian Dejean and co-organizer of the march.”It is not possible for us all to go back to our daily routine, our normal life. We need to be by our family’s side” he said.

Organized by the family of the deceased, unanimously described as appreciated and very committed to the community, the march will leave around noon from Boulevard Jean Pain, where the tragedy took place, to reach the neighborhood where he grew up, the Olympic Village, in the south of Grenoble, making a detour to the premises of urban cleaning where he worked. Mayor Eric Piolle and other elected officials are expected to participate, according to the municipality.

On franceinfo, Stéphane Echinard also calls “those who govern us (…) to come together, stop playing politics”, without particularly pointing the finger at the current green town hall, judging that “Grenoble is a city that has always been violent“.

He denounces “the problem of the use of weapons” and the fact of “trivialize violence“. Stéphane Echinard says oscillate”between resignation, anger, indignation“, faced with the death of his friend and the numerous shootings affecting Grenoble.

He hopes that there is “not that [eux]urban cleanliness and his childhood friends” at the march. “This tragedy has affected Grenoble and beyond. Everyone must feel concerned by what happened, be aware of it.” and calls for “come for a walk, even if you didn’t know him. It could have been your brother, your friend“. Lilian “was truly someone who constantly thought of others and today that forces us” he insists.
