Drummondville | Motorcyclist arrested for hit and run after collision with moped

(Drummondville) A motorcyclist will have to face justice after being involved in a collision with a person on a moped, without ever stopping to help him.

The collision occurred Friday evening, around 8:30 p.m., near Marie-Curie Street in the industrial district of Drummondville, in Centre-du-Québec.

According to preliminary information, the two people involved were taking part in a motorcycle rally when the collision occurred.

“The driver of the moped was located at the scene. He was transported to a hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” said Adam Marineau, information officer at the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

“The investigation efforts made it possible to locate the other driver involved in the collision and who had left the scene before the arrival of emergency services. He was arrested by the Sûreté du Québec,” said the SQ spokesperson.

The motorcyclist was released pending further legal proceedings. He could face charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and hit-and-run, Marineau said.

An SQ collision investigation specialist went to the scene to analyze the scene and clarify the causes and circumstances of the collision.

The SQ investigation is ongoing.
