France Télévisions is betting on a television news program that “take the time” to inform. Starting Monday, September 9, the “8 p.m.” news on France 2 will last one hour, announced on Wednesday, September 4, the director of information for the public audiovisual group, Alexandre Kara.

This great mass of information, whose format and duration have changed little since its creation, was given up for dead in the era of continuous news channels and social networks. To better mark its difference, France 2 has chosen to press pause “to better understand the world around us, to better assimilate the permanent flow of news”underlines Alexandre Kara.

Concretely, the editorial journal, presented by Anne-Sophie Lapix during the week and by Laurent Delahousse on weekends, will integrate the weather-climate journal and will offer longer subjects, more reports, verifications and investigations, more interventions by experts and specialists, but also more guests.

The daily soap opera Such a big sunpreviously broadcast after the France 2 news at 8:45 p.m., will now be on France 3.
