Thierry Beaudet’s CV “is not debatable”, said Olivier Faure, First Secretary of the Socialist Party and PS MP for Seine-et-Marne, on franceinfo on Monday 2 September, while the name of the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) is being mentioned as the future Prime Minister.
“His CV is not contestable“, Olivier Faure first acknowledges, even adding that Thierry Beaudet has “a path that speaks in his favor”Thierry Beaudet was president of the Mutuelle générale de l’Éducation nationale (MGEN) from 2009 to 2017, also president of the Fédération nationale de la Mutualité française (FNMF) from 2016 to 2021, before taking the reins of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (Cese). “All this speaks in his favour”sums up Olivier Faure, estimating in passing that Thierry Beaudet, as president of the Cese, “also led citizens’ conventions which did not always have the fate they should have had, due to the head of state.”
The first secretary of the PS therefore does not want “reject this profile” that he “knows very little”. But Olivier Faure wants above all to talk about the program, and emphasizes that he does not know “what are the political options that Thierry Beaudet defends.” “I will never comment on names, I will only comment on projects, continues Olivier Faure. The question is not a question of person. The question, once again, is a question of substance.”
This is also why Olivier Faure is one of those left-wing figures who do not support the hypothesis of Bernard Cazeneuve, Prime Minister under François Hollande. It is not the profile of the former socialist head of government that poses a problem, but his ideas according to Olivier Faure, who points out that Bernard Cazeneuve has always opposed the construction of the NFP during the early legislative elections.
“Bernard Cazeneuve, if he wants the support of the left, let him come and meet them and let him come and say what he defends.”

Behind the choice of the future Prime Minister and the government that will follow, there is also respect for voters, underlines Olivier Faure. And in particular those who voted for the political program of the NFP, which came out on top in the second round of the legislative elections on Sunday July 7, without an absolute majority. “If we now explain to them that voting or not voting is the same thing, because in any case, we will never take their opinion into account and that we will do in any case what was planned to be done, then I predict thatwarns Olivier Faure, Tomorrow there will be more people who will abstain, fewer people who will organize the republican front and you will have what everyone has tried to prevent: (…) the victory of the extreme right, for lack of fighters.”
