Taylor Swift’s immense influence sometimes makes us forget that other popular artists are also doing well. Billie Eilish has just surpassed The Weeknd and now wears the crown of the most listened to artist on Spotify.
As of Tuesday, the singer had 100.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, the most widely used music platform, Universal Music said. That narrowly beats out The Weeknd, who has 99.8 million monthly listeners, according to Music Business Worldwide.
The specialist magazine also points out that eight of Billie Eilish’s songs have passed the billion-play mark on Spotify. Bury A Friend, Bad Guy, Ocean Eyes And When the Party’s Over are among his most popular titles.
Billie Eilish’s feat is all the more impressive given that she rose to fame at breakneck speed. Her song Ocean Eyes was noticed upon its release in 2016, but it wasn’t until two years later that things really took off for her. Her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?released in 2019, sealed its fame by reaching number one on the Billboard charts.
