Michel Jean retires from TVA

Michel Jean is retiring from journalism. The anchor will host his last news bulletin on TVA and LCN on Friday.


Michel Jean is stepping down to continue his writing career, according to a statement from the broadcaster issued on Wednesday. This fall, he will also be a contributor to the radio show There will always be culturehosted by Émilie Perreault on ICI Première.

Michel Jean began his journalistic career in 1986 in Sorel. After a stint at the Radio-Nord network in Rouyn-Noranda, the holder of a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology joined Radio-Canada. In 1995, he became the anchor of Quebec live at RDI, then national reporter at TV news/Le Point in 2002.

Michel Jean joined TVA in 2005 as co-host of the public affairs program I with Annie Gagnon. He then held various roles in the TVA and LCN newscasts. For three years, he held the reins of the TVA News Midday during the week.

Michel Jean also has a career as an author. His first work, Special Envoywas published in 2008 by Stanké. Published in 2019 by Libre Expression, his book Kukuma real bestseller in which he gives a voice to indigenous peoples, won the France-Québec prize.
