A man was shot and injured Thursday evening in the borough of Montreal North, reports the Montreal Police Department.
Emergency services received a call around 9:45 p.m. to respond to a person injured by gunfire on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard, not far from PM Favier Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim on the ground, shot in the upper body and conscious. The man was taken to hospital.
At the time of writing, the SPVM was awaiting his condition and had not yet identified the victim.
Initial information gleaned by the SPVM suggests that an individual shot the victim and fled before the police arrived.
A security perimeter has been established around the scene and investigators accompanied by forensic identification technicians are to analyze the scene and determine the causes and circumstances of the shooting. The canine unit has also been called in to search for more evidence.
No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is ongoing.
