New York duo Cults, comprised of Brian Oblivion and Madeline Follin, present To the Ghostsa coherent whole, but which perhaps fails to make an impression as in the past. Let’s salute the dreamy and tormented atmosphere of the group’s pop, without however being able to evoke a considerable evolution or claim to be pleasantly surprised. That being said, Cults’ music is no less good: Hung the Moon, Knots And Crybaby express its essence, with excellent harmonies that are instantly attributed to it and the voice of its singer always so floating and comforting. In this regard, it is also necessary to underline the ability of the group to deceive us by exploring dark themes without taking us into the whirlwind of crying songs. Special mention to the title Eat It Cold, probably the best of the album. Cults will also be the opening act for Vampire Weekend on their tour, with a stop planned at Place Bell in Laval on September 25.
