The Gaza Civil Defense said on Tuesday, July 30, that the Israeli military operation launched a week earlier in the Khan Younis governorate had left around 300 dead. “A large part of them are decomposing corpses.”the organization’s spokesman told AFP. The fighting has also displaced more than 180,000 people, according to the UN.

The Israeli army launched an operation on July 22 to stop rocket fire from the area, which had already been the scene of heavy fighting earlier this year. It said on Tuesday that it had completed its operation in Khan Younis and had killed “more than 150 terrorists”. The soldiers also “dismantled tunnels, weapons storage facilities and terrorist infrastructure, and located weapons”.

A few days earlier, the IDF said it had recovered the bodies of five Israelis in Khan Younis. They were killed in the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7 in Israel. The bodies were taken to the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli army.
