The start of the construction holidays caused a lot of traffic at customs on Saturday morning. Just like on Friday, waiting times were to be expected.
Around 7 a.m., vacationers were having to wait 45 minutes at the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border crossing, more than double the usual wait, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Two hours later, that estimate had dropped by half.
Congestion was also felt in Saint-Armand, where holidaymakers had to wait an average of 45 minutes before crossing the border, early in the morning. Around 9 a.m., it was still necessary to allow at least 30 minutes to get through customs.
In Stanstead, motorists could expect to wait about thirty minutes at the border crossing, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. However, the estimated wait time was reduced to about fifteen minutes, around 9 a.m.
