The “Distillerie St-Laurent” brand purchased by the Distillerie Arsenal

Products from Distillerie St-Laurent will continue to be produced and sold, despite its bankruptcy in May. Distillerie Arsenal in Quebec City announced Wednesday that it was purchasing the brand and inventory of the defunct Rimouski company.

“The expertise, distinctive products and recipes will be preserved in order to perpetuate the name and accomplishments of this Quebec pearl,” Distillerie Arsenal said in a press release. Distillerie St-Laurent, founded in 2015, is known in particular for its gin and Trois Grains whisky. It is considered by Distillerie Arsenal to be “a true pioneer and precursor of distillation in Quebec.”

Production will now be carried out in Lower Town Quebec, in the Arsenal premises, which will open in September 2023.

This news comes in a difficult economic context for Quebec microdistilleries. The Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) has decided to stop selling about 200 of their products, while several of them have closed their doors in the last year.
