Météo-France lifted the orange warning for thunderstorms for all departments on Monday, July 15. At the beginning of the day, twenty-four departments were affected by the alert, then seventeen by the end of the day. “The storm front has now moved towards Germany. A few thunderstorms are still possible tonight, but without being violent.”the forecaster specifies in his latest bulletin.
“The storms were locally violent on Monday afternoon and [en] evening”with “strong gusts between 90 and 120 km/h”including 113 km/h in Colmar-Meyenheim (Haut-Rhin), 111 km/h in Mulhouse and 107 km/h in Metz, details Météo-France. The agency also notes “heavy accumulations of rain in a very short time (…) as these storms pass, often with 20 to 30 mm in less than an hour, up to 50 mm locally”.
