Which candidate for the post of Prime Minister on the left? Elements of an answer with Aurélien Taché, NFP-LFI deputy of Val-d’Oise, and William Thay, president of the think tank Le Millénaire.

Aurélien Taché, NFP-LFI deputy for Val-d’Oise, invites the socialists “to really think about the commitment they are going to make over the weekend”. “The voters placed us (…) in the lead in the three blocs that were running in the legislative election. (…) And I don’t think that the choice of the voters of the New Popular Front was to say: the future Prime Minister must be a socialist or nothing”he argues.

Today, the communists are proposing the name of Huguette Bello, who according to Aurélien Taché could “gather consensus”.

But “Once again, on the socialist side, things seem to be stuck”deplores the deputy, and this despite the personality “unifier” of the candidate. “She embodies the experience, the convictions [et] a personality that contrasts with what we see too often in the political world”summarizes Aurélien Taché.

For William Thay, president of the think tank Le Millénaire, Huguette Bello has “a special journey that brings people together beyond” from the left. The latter, however, emphasizes that the battle is being played out first “for left leadership” between La France Insoumise and the socialists, and this “since the European elections”. William Thay also recalls that “rules had been established before the election campaign”. In this case, that “the one who comes out on top of the parliamentary groups (…) would propose the name of the Prime Minister”.
