(Montreal) A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle Friday evening, near Highway 50 East, in Mirabel.
Emergency services were alerted around 8:30 p.m. regarding a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the junction of Highway 50 East, at the exit to Highway 15 North.
According to initial reports, the driver, a man in his twenties, hit a pedestrian who was standing on the side of the road on Highway 50.
The pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to hospital. The driver was arrested by the police.
“He could face charges related to the event,” reports officer Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
In order to better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding this event, a collision scene reconstructionist will visit the site.
The junction of Highway 50 East, towards Highway 15 North, in Mirabel, has been closed to traffic.
