Keegan Bradley to captain USA at Ryder Cup

Keegan Bradley will return to the Ryder Cup, but this time as captain of the United States. The PGA Tour announced his appointment Monday, after months of fruitless negotiations with Tiger Woods.

The PGA posted the news on Instagram as word began to circulate that Bradley, who had only played in two Ryder Cups and had never been an assistant, had been selected to lead Team USA at Bethpage Black in New York in 2025.

Bradley was already in New York for a news conference scheduled for noon Tuesday.

Woods was the Ryder Cup committee’s first choice for the job, but had been in negotiations for several months over the workload involved.

He was the captain in 2019 when the Americans won the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne and he was also assistant captain in the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.

When the PGA saw that Woods was no longer an option, it turned to a local favorite in Bradley. The New England native played his college golf in St. John’s, New York.

Bradley had a tough time in 2023 when he was left out of the prestigious competition by the Americans. He represented the United States in 2012 and 2014, but they lost both editions.
