Triumphant breakaway or mass sprint? Several scenarios are possible in this eighth stage of the Tour de France, Saturday, July 6. From the start in the small town of Semur-en-Auxois to the finish in Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises, on the land of General de Gaulle, the cyclists will follow a hilly 183.4 km course. The stage will be punctuated by three fourth-category climbs, two third-category climbs, as well as an intermediate sprint set at the 59th kilometer.

In the event of a group finish of the peloton, sprinters like Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Arnaud de Lie (Lotto Dstny), will try to win their first stage on this Tour de France 2024. This will not be the case for Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek), who will not start. But on a stage with a hilly profile, a breakaway could nevertheless disrupt the plans of the contenders for the green jersey.
