Five collisions caused by a reckless driver on the Metropolitan

(Montreal) A young driver caused no less than five collisions late Friday evening on the Metropolitan highway, in the borough of Anjou.

The police were called around 11 p.m. on Highway 40, at kilometer 73, eastbound, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reported.

Upon arrival, they discovered a man in his forties in critical condition. He was taken to a local hospital. In the morning, the doctors no longer feared for his life.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene for driving while impaired by alcohol. A sample was taken to determine his blood alcohol level. He was released on summons.

The young man could face charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving and drug trafficking, said Sergeant Marythé Bolduc, a spokeswoman for the SQ.

A collision investigator came to the scene to shed light on these collisions.

The highway was reopened around 4 a.m.

The police were not able to specify the circumstances of these collisions on Saturday morning, but they mentioned that it was not a pile-up.
