The Frenchwoman achieved the best world performance of the year on Saturday during her final of the European Championships and affirms her status as a candidate for a gold medal in Paris.

The gold medal, with style. Cyréna Samba-Mayela was crowned European champion in the 100m hurdles on Saturday June 8 in Rome with a record time of 12″31. In a very fast final, the Frenchwoman was able to resist the return of Ditaji Kambundji (12″40 ) by offering the best global performance of the year. Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska took third place in 12″42.
Already a French record holder before her arrival in Rome, the 2022 world indoor champion in the 60m hurdles lowered her mark by 21 hundredths, which was 12.52 (in Clermont in the United States on May 11).
In the space of 10 minutes, France gleaned its first two medals in these European championships, since this title follows the silver medal of Auriana Lazraq-Khlass in the heptathlon, where the young Frenchwoman won improved many of his records.
